hi i went to bretons riding school when i was younger but had to give up, do these guys give once a wekk lessons, how long is the waiting list?
ok
Which Is Better ?
i started there last year and i think its great, its better than mottingham farm - where they treat the horses terrible, all of the horses are in good shape and well trained, the teachers are okay - some times they can be a bit strict, but they are just tryng to help you out. i cant wait to go back tomorrow. (:
My son started weekly lessons there when he was 12 and never looked back. The basic grounding taught by Hilary has stood him in such good stead. While there, he went on a couple of riding hoidays with a group of friends from New Lodge to two different centres. On both occasions all the New Lodge Riders were put into the top group because of their excellent tecnique. By the time he was 15 my son had bought himself a horse. On leaving school at 16, he went to Hadlow College to take his Diploma in Horse and Stable Management. From there he went on to Catherston Stud to work and train with Jennie Loriston-Clarke. At 20, he now runs his own livery yard where several of the horses are on training livery with him. None of this would have been possible if it hadn't been for Hilary teaching the basics correctly. I myself took riding up again there when in my 40s and Hilary encouraged and supported me all the way. She is totally decicated to all her animals and works like a Trojan.
I went here once and then couldn't wait to go back to Mottingham farm...sour teachers , not a smile anywhere...makes you feel uncomfortable...didn't like it one bit.
New lodge is one of the best riding schools in london. The horses are well looked after, very friendly and good to ride. The lessons are excellent with a range of activities including field rides and jumping leesons for the more experienced riders. New lodge also specialises in riding for the disabled, with full help from the staff, whether it's leading the horses to walking beside the riders to give them full support and confidence. I personally worked at New lodge for a year and a bit as part of a college course then stayed on as a volunteer for a while and i enjoyed every minute of it, as everyone is very friendly. i would recommend to all those who love horses and riding.
