Hi is there a pony called konker still there?
i have hove been riding there a very long time and nothing can seperate me from their horses! i am in adult/middle and my fav horsey is lucy;she rocks! and domino(of course)i just want to say thank you for being such a lovey riding school!
I currently ride at mottingham farm and began 4 years ago as a complete novice with limited english. With dedication and some help I have progressed to the top ride. woohoo!!! This is the only stable I have ever been to so I can't compare it to anything. My favourite horse is Spirit, I get him most rides although he can be naughty and a bit spooky I think I know how to handle him and riding him is a small challenge I love. This farm has a wide range of horses to suit most abilities. Im not a great friend with any of the staff but that doesn't get in the way of me having a great time riding. I have to say some of the teachers don't really explain to you about riding and how it is to be done correctly they only say something when you do wrong, that is not to say all of them do this. The lessons do seem to be kind of similar: starting of with some exercises with trot then canter go into other fields and start jumping. The jumps are small and I think it would be nicer and more challenging for the horses and riders if they had higher jumps. The horses look capable of doing higher jumps and so do the riders.Competitions would be a huge bonus however considering it is a hard to organise and make sure everything runs smoothly with limited amount of time due to a busy schedule might not be realistic. I am considering taking private lessons or trying another riding school because I feel MFRC is not challenging me enough. Don't get me wrong I love MFRC and the horses so much but it lacks some more excitement and challenge. The owner of the whole school is a very good teacher but we don't get taught by her that much. I think other teachers should be just like her. Stable management lessons taught properly would be very nice and I am sure would attract customers. The horses are treated well and although not to the best standards it is enough to make everyone happy. With a few improvements and more challenges this school could be the best but it is good anyway. recommend highly.
