• Just Mechanic - dodgy, avoid at all cost

  I first came across an advert on Gumtree warning against using Just Mechanic however a few weeks later i had another look on Gumtree and found a listing for a mobile mechanic named Mike... who unfortunately turned out to be the same guy! As i had work to do i left Mike (who seemed professional) to replace a simple component on my car and left him with full payment (cash) - it seemed fair at the time but in hindsight very stupid. Mike did not leave a receipt as requested (therefore no proof that he'd done any work) and completely bodged the job leading to oil spraying around in the engine bay when the car was started up - something which could have lead to a nasty fire. He then ignored my phone calls and texts. He still advertises on Gumtree and i'm sure that's probably where he gets most of his business from. Mike aka Just Mechanic is as dodgy as they come so please avoid at all cost.

• Be careful

  Mike arrived and appeared very knowlegeable with a good demeanour and a tidy van. All looked good and I happily let him take my car off to his garage. Unfortunately, I am currently in a dispute situation with this guy as he has had £300 from me to replace some engine components (it's very doubtful if they have indeed been replaced) and then told me I needed a new engine. Address above is also incorrect - or is the one I have for him, 85a Hanley Road, London N4 3DQ the wrong one? Same postcode but different house and street - who knows?? He doesn't have his own garage (uses other mechanic's ramps) and I have since had to move the car to a different garage as I no longer trusted the people giving me advice. I have offered to pay him a 'reasonable' amount for the recovery cost and some oil supplied, but he has chosen to keep my £300 !! I would not recommend this guy and would advise that you stay away.
