Theo Fennell has made his name with a particular style that teams the ordinary with the less ordinary. So, silver sleeves for marmite jars and so on. His jewellery takes this to extremes, featuring cheap semi-precious stones in, often, white gold settings studded with tiny diamonds. Some would call this disrespectful to both the diamonds and the cheaper stones. It's not unique as a design approach (whatever the guys in the shop say), the trouble with TF is that the result costs an extraordinary amount and then just doesn't look expensive. You can get the same effect as one of his £3,000 rings for £30 in Camden Market. He trades on the fact that the Beckhams and Elton John use him, which kind of says it all. My advice, if you want that sort of style with real gems, get it made bespoke, it'll really be unique then and you'll pay 1/3 of Fennell's prices. Seriously. You'll also be able to buy with confidence about where the stones have come from, which is kind of important.
