Good food, Great value, great service-there is nothing so nice as a perfectly cooked poached egg on a saturday morning, add one more rasher to your bacon offering and make it smoked and I will be there every week
Purple has been quietly plying its trade on Streatham High Road for 3 (three!) years now, and for some reason I have not visited it that often. It's a busy but friendly place, and after three visits since the start of the year, it's become a favourite. Purple do what so many good places do - they keep the menu simple (but interesting), and the service friendly (but efficient). It's a winning combination, and Purple happily offers something to delight everyone - whether it be a cottage pie (served with a heart-stopping topping of melted cheese), a really good burger, or something a bit healthier (my picture show the Moroccan chicken, served with sweet potato mash, peppers and lime). Prices are reasonable - with main courses from £6.95. A minor gripe is that the seating sometimes feels cramped, especially if it's busy - but I would not be put off by it.Purple also does great milkshakes, and my absolute favourite (I've had it on every visit) is a wonderful peanut and toffee concoction, and there is a lovely coconut offering too.A take away service is provided for those in a hurry, and you can also book a table in advance (although not on Saturday or Sunday - Purple's brand of informal, quality dining has proved a hit in Streatham, and it's just too busy to start blocking off tables). If I had to sum up Purple in one word, it would be 'perfect'. To expand, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and even thought there is a bar, you can still bring your own bottle. Perfect!
