hidden treasure is a really special place....
the only original, new, good italian restaurant on west end lane side, large portion, real seafood.home made dessert, and the most attentive service ever.highly recommend it
bizarre decoration apparently lifted from a series of shipwrecks and hotels/restaurants that had to close down* unfriendly welcome* service that was offhand to downright rude certainly not friendly or professional as reviewers said* food that was delivered in unasked for / unwanted quantities but without much regard for quality* scallops that had been cut up and smothered in cheese sauce so much so it was difficult to ascertain how much scallop there was in it* accompanying salad was nice but undressed and no dressing offered* house wine was not very interesting - sicily does produce some very serviceable wine at just under £5 The Incyon range for example. * tagliatelle al frute de mar again huge quantities of pasta that was lukewarm to cool served on a cold plate. Most of the sea food was clams and mussels and the v tiny prawns you usually get in chinese/malaysian/thai dishes. Only 2 reasonably sized prawns on top. dish was too salty* the cost at £32 a head with 1 bottle of wine and no puds / coffee was v poor value for money* restaurant was mainly empty on a frdiay night
AVOID. Food very expensive for what it is. The decor is wonderful and very cozy, Limoncello delicious, Chianti Fab, but the food is less than average, if not inedible. I asked for a Pumkin Risotto and was served RICE SLOP for £15.95. And my 4 friends could barely eat their fatty chopped up steak, or what was obviously not fresh fish. A part from the very charming decor, I highly recommend to go elsewhere for some good italian food, go to "j" or "Strada" on West End Lane.
