During Winter I love my soup, natures penicillin and a comforting pick-me up. This joint is tops, because at lunchtime you get a free bowl of the homemade stuff. Forget ordering the tea, its undainty & tastebud stomping. In one hot sip the soup will have you under its spell while you wait for your meal to arrive in double-quick time.. Made with whole ginger, greens and Sweeney Todd sized bones - they must have a vat of plenty down below - it's the dogs ball-o-kos. Service is as fast as Daphne from Heroes without the groovy haircut. The place is clean, mighty clean and the turnover quick-quick-quick. Usually full of Chinese, the soup is a cross-cultural lure tapping into something primal. The Duck and pickled cabbage is good. Most of the food is pretty fine, not top-top quality but straight forward & filling. Get there for the soup and the rest is a bonus.

Good place for vegetarians, as Young Chen has a good selection of veggie choices in the buffet - broccoli, zucchini, corn, mushrooms and 2-3 vegetarian stir fries served with rice, good quality noodles and oven baked potato slices are all on offer. The food is hot and well presented and the restaurant is always spotlessly clean which is a big plus. I have been here a couple of times and it's never packed to the brim, so the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back, although they make a point of quickly take away your plate when you've finished which can be a bit off-putting(don't worry though, you can always go back for more). They have a good selection of teas as well which I would recommend.

This was a staple of my student days.Cheap good food (rice comes with your main dish).Expect to get squeezed against someone you don't know. You can't snaek in the back door anymore to avoid the que in the front. Chinese have the luxury of ordering from the more interesting Chinese menu (there seem to be lots of different menus in this place). Tip: ask for the ginger sauce that comes in a little side dish - delicious with Chinese Broccoli and tofu.Favourite dish: Salt and Pepper Squid yummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Great place for a quick chinese upstairs. Fantastic bowls of noodles, meat and veg.Downstairs I have entertained various groups of people with the crispy pigs intestines. Once sat next to an English guy who said this was the only place that compared to Hong Kong where he spent most of his time working.
