The bar at the Crazy Bear serves a good selection of cocktails in contemporary surroundings whilst the elegant restaurant serves oriental cuisine.
London Underground: Goodge Street
I recently ate here as part of a group of 7 people. After a drink in the bar, we went up to eat in the restaurant. The seating was somewhat awkward and not conducive to group of this size. Annoyingly, the waiters bumped into the chairs taking food to other tables and plates back to the kitchen. The atmosphere is great and relaxed. The service is okay. The good was good, not excellent, in small portions. However, the dessert was the real star and a clear differentiator to other Thai restaurants in London. Might be perfect for a date, not so great for a group booking.
I really like the image of this bar and restaurant, the service is close to brilliant if they would only smile. Food can be 1st class and occaisonally a little flat. Worth a visit if you have never been before.
Ok, so they are a little special, but not the sole reason to visit. I've not eaten at the restaurant, so this review can only speak for the downstairs bar. Crazy Bear has opted for a seating-only policy - given the size this isn't such a bad thing, but it does mean that spontaneous visits should be kept for the first half of the week. Attentive staff, eye-catching 20s-esque decor and some of the best mixed drinks in London all add up to a memorable experience whether you go for a quick pre-dinner cocktail (try one of the martinis for size) or settle in for a night.
