Very one-off type of pub - the eclectic informal crowd and make this an easily relaxed, enjoyable local or casual place to have a drink. The wine menu is fairly decent considering the pub's location - and the food is tasty and plentiful (especially good burgers and chunky chips!). Lots of history in this cavernous pub with the usual dark wood and burgundy furnishings, the stuffed birds behind the bar somehow add to its understated quirkiness. Juke box could do with some new tunes, but overall the staff are friendly, atmoshphere very informal and crowd very mixed. Does occasional gigs in the room at the back with some fun live bands and dance classes from time to time. Recommend it if in the area.
