Brief business description

The Chartered Institute of Linguists (IoL) is an international professional membership organisation. It promotes proficiency in modern languages worldwide amongst professional linguists, including translators, interpreters and educationalists, as well as those in the public and private sectors for whom languages are an important skill. Through its wholly owned subsidiary IoL Language Services ltd (LSL) it offers translation, production and recruitment services, validation of language qualifications and assessments as well as training courses. The IoL Educational Trust, an associated charity is an accredited awarding body offering high level exams. The Institute helps to ensure equal access for all to the public services (law, health, local government) by providing interpreting qualifications in most of the languages spoken in the UK and running the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI Ltd).
