I can’t believe it! Its gone for good! How DARE the landlord case the demise of such a wonderful restaurant! Sabras was absolutely fantastic and one of my favourite Indian restaurants. They were masters of vegetarian cuisine and a friend of mine will literally consider suicide as a result of their closure! I always found the husband and wife team to be a unique experience, I just hope (and pray) they set up somewhere close by and let us all know of their new venue! The food here was such good value for money – if the owners read this, please please tell us if you reopen somewhere else!

Travelled there for dinner last night only to sadly discover that the place has closed permanently - looks more like a building site! Tried telephoning beforehand but incoming calls not accepted. Local enquiries revealed that apparently the people running the restaurant have given up as it is uneconomic to continue under the landlord's rent review. This is regrettably not our first experience of this scenario in London with a restaurant who has toiled for years to build a good reputation only to suffer an exhorbitant rent increase from the landlord thus forcing it out of business!
*I have just discovered that they were forced to close as the landlord increased the rent. After 33 years! Absolutely dreadful. So disappointing.*Beautiful indian vegetarian food in the heartlands of Willesden. Sabras is the best vegetarian indian I have been to. Beautiful food that is delicately cooked and beautifully presented at fantastic prices. The food critic Andy Hayler highly rates them & I couldn't agree with him enough. We found Sabras through the Guardian Guide where it was given 10/10 for vegetarian food. A husband and wife team have been running Sabras for 33 years. They cook Gujarati food, everything from dosas to currys. On arrival they will greet you with a plate of bhel poori on the house. We have tried most things there, if it's your first time I would recommend the dosa, mixed starter plate and the special curry.Try it! It's worth the trip. They also do takeaway (but not delivery) if you are in the area. Andy Haylers blog - search Sabras for the review - http://www.andyhayler.com/food_blog.asp
