• Choking by its success

  I've been a big fan of this German Pub and its lovely german beer & food over the past year or so. But lately I must say the standards have been below my expectations. They've introduced the lunch buffet which have been excellent value. However they have been reducing the selection recently and the increase in popularity means that there are long queues and long wait for the food to be topped up. Unfortunately I don't think I'll return until they have that sorted.

• Great German Pub in Vauxhall

  Went with a few guys from work and the Jolly Gardeners in Vauxhall (also called Zeitgeist) is a fantastic airy pub with a huge slection of German beers. The food is very well priced and as well as typical German sausages and snitzels they also offer tasty burgers. Ordering took a while, but it was a busy Friday to be fair and the food was delivered very quickly. edit: I have been back since several times, and service is extremely quick!

• Great beers and great staff

  It's very rare to find a pub in London were the staff are actually friendly. Throw in some great german beers ( i recommend the Kostriker) and you have a great pub. Foods ok too.

• Gets better and better

  This place is great! You always get served quickly and efficiently, and the food never takes long. Good value too. Many varied beers, and they even provide cloths when you spill a pint over one of your mates! Well worth a visit.

• Very nice indeed

  Went for lunch with a few guys from work and was very surprised not only by the pub itself but the food and drinks. I had the lunch special (Bratwurst and Beer) and and enjoyed it in the beer garden. I counted 11 individual brands of German import tap beer, some of which have a light and dark variant, for about £3.70 a pint. I plan to go back as soon as possible :)

• German Food in the Heart of Lambeth

  This is my Friday lunch spot. The pub is run by a German Couple kicking out hearty, satisfying, sleep inducing German food. The menu is fantastic, and a good value. Schnitzel, and roast potatoes and a drink for about £5. The only thing I’ve stumbled across that I didn’t like was the roast in beer sauce? The above picture is the Jager Schnitzel, mushroom gravy and chips.Simple and Satisfying.

• Pleasantly surprised

  I came across this place by chance and decided to pop in for a quick drink. Was very surprised once inside. Nice big pub, lots of seating, pleasant staff and a good selection of German beers. Big screen too for when the football is on. Well worth a visit!

• nice location and friendly people

  I'm in London only a few days now but The Jolly Gardeners is definitely becoming a second home for me. The pub is run by a fellow countryman from Germany since october and offers a broad selection of beers and food from home.
