  • Willis happy experience

I don't normally leave reviews but feel impelled to paint a very different picture from the one given above! I've had my hair cut by Michael the owner twice now and have nothing but good things to say about him and the salon in general. I dislike visits to the hairdressers but was really impressed by the care, time and atteneion to detail that he paid whilst cutting my hair. I felt that both times he was attentive and committed to his work and that his artistic/professional balance was just right. As a mother of a young toddler I really appreciated the time and care that he took in making me feel good and in encouraging me to try something a little different. His manner is perhaps a little taciturn at times but maybe that suits my nature better and it is more than compensated for by his bright and friendly colourists and receptionists. Both times I have left the salon feeling refreshed and confident and that is why after years of hairdresser hopping I'm going back for my third visit tomorrow!

  • Willis They couldn't even trim my fringe straight

I visited Willis B hairdressers as it appeared professional and modern and had prices that suggested the cuts were of good quality. I always test out a new hairdresser by having a fringe trim to see if I like it. The first time I went, I had a gentleman who appeared to be the owner (he was older than everyone else and gave that impression). When the receptionist asked him if he would do a fringe trim he said, 'oh for God's sake' and reluctantly strolled over. He continued to be rude throughout the trim, barely managing to grunt when necessary. The receptionist said, 'don't take it personally, he's always like that'. I wouldn't have gone back a second time but I was truly desperate for a trim and I thought I would just ask for someone else. It turned out he wasn't there so I felt relieved. This time however, a lady (again, older than the other staff, perhaps his partner) cut my fringe so badly that I had to tidy it up MYSELF. Now, any girl knows that you should never ever cut your own fringe, it is a recipe for disaster but I was desperate. It was actually wonky. When I questioned her about it she said that I had a 'kink' in my fringe and asked if I blow dried it straight, I said yes, but that it was straight anyway. I thought I was going mad and so went home and gave it a quick once over just to be sure. Nope, she'd just cut it really badly. She is the one that could have given it a once over with the hairdryer if she had any doubts but she didn't. I told her it was wonky and she ignored me. She left it uncut in places with chunks (no exaggeration) hanging down that I had to trim off myself and to top it all, she cut too much off in other places. This is probably one of the worst hairdressers I have ever been too - they can't even cut fringes properly or bother to be polite to their customers. The only saving grace is the lady on reception who is totally wasted there. They charge the same prices as a premium hairdressers which is a total joke. When I mentioned this to my usual hairdresser (after he was shocked at the bodge job they did on my fringe) - he said, 'it sounds like they are past it, tired and fed up. They can't be bothered.' I think he could be right. I just had to share this because I was so shocked at how bad it actually was. Ladies (and gents!) stay away from Willis B if you want a decent haircut.
