David originally installed a Vaillant boiler in December 2007. At the start of 2009, the boiler experineced problems - loud banging noises and heating constantly failing, and sporadic hot water supply. David came to the property and declared that there was nothing wrong with the boiler. In a subsequent phone call, David suggested that the system would need a powerflush (he thought that he did this as part of the original installation but couldn't be sure). I arranged a day for David to come out and do the powerflush (April 2008). I took the day off from work and David didn't turn up - he admitted to me that he had forgotten. He told me to contact him to arrange another visit. I sent him a text - but he didn't respond. Since April 2008 (incidentally since the weather has been warmer) I switched the heating off and the problem went away. In October 2009 (when it was time to swtich the boiler on again) the heating failed and the old problems returned - loud banging noises and failure of the heating system. I called David again and arranged for him to visit me on October 15th - he said that he would undertake a powerflush. I took the day off from work and David hadn't turned up as promised (at lunch time). I called him, he answered saying that he'd call back in 10 minutes. David never returned my call and did not answer the phone when I called him through the afternoon. So in less than a year, David has failed to turn up on two occasions. Apart from the obvious poor customer service, I'm complaining about David's skill as a plumber. He installed a system that hasn't really worked - he wasn't even sure if he did a powerflush during the original installation. I've tried to get David out to fix the problem - but on both occasions he hasn't turned up, and I'm left with a boiler that doesn't work. I now need to get this fixed - and if it does require a powerflush - it will cost me about £700. David isn't interested to fix the problem that he has caused.
