Tsumani serve a wide range of sushi and health conscious cooked Japanese dishes. They can accommodate 110 covers in a minimal, modern, feng shui environment. Before 7.30pm all food has a 25% discount.
Tsunami is a kind of perfect neighbourhood restaurant - it is all that Clapha aspires to be. It is big, light, airy and comfortable with great decor that feels utterly original, rather than a sad attempt at style. The food is seriously good - you can have a quick bite, sharing a few plates and some warm saké or you can settle in for a couple of hours of blissfully good food. And on weekends you can get a bowl of soba noodle soup topped with tempura prawns and vegetables for £6,50 - the ultimate Sunday lunch. Service is knowledgeable and friendly - who could ask for more?

The reviews I have read about tsunami have been mixed from delicious, must go, to expensive, nothing special, don't bother.I loved it. You could go and have a relatively cheap meal - order a range of appetisers with a few friends and eat tapas style - and with 20% if you order before 7pm, you could easily get away under £15 per person with a cheeky glass of wine. The tempura was delicious, and the serves were huge. The seabass was divine and the eggplant with sesame - well, I would go back just for that. I took a group of friends there, and it was a bit pricey, because we completely over ordered, they all raved about the food.A good place to go for a bit of a treat without completely breaking the bank
In the not-too-distant past (and we’re talking pre-Asian tsunami days here, or obviously the name would be different) this was somewhere one would take one’s parents for a special meal. One may even take one's prospective or current lover there for a bit of taste-bud romance. Needless to say I went for the parents option. Ahem... I first went to Tsunami on the recommendation of a work-chum, who raved that they had “poached a chef from Nobu”. Now, as a young, upcoming member of the overpaid-for-a-bollocksy-corporate-job club, I thought this would be the perfect place to impress my Ma & Pa with a fancy dinner near my old gaff in Stockwell. And fancy it certainly was. I believe the phrase is ‘Asian fusion’ though I’m almost certain this phrase is now defunct as I’m not exactly on the pulse of current culinary lingo. Annie hoo, Ma & Pa (and indeed son) were rightly impressed by the classy service and mouth-watering dishes that were served up. I always knew it would be pricey, and it was, so don’t go expecting bargains (I seem to remember almost choking on my Gold card when I saw the bill, but pride got the better of me and I insisted – as you do). As an aside, the last time I went, who should sit in the very chair I had just vacated upon finishing our meal, but Nathalie Portman (you know, Leon child-temptress who grew up to become Darth Vader’s estranged lover). Now that’s what I call A-list shelebrities.
