All is not what it seems with Pedini - if it ever was. This article appeared in KBB yesterday - in it Mr Miller clearly states that no customers have been affected by the failure of Pedini - this is completely untrue - as we are living proof. Read on if you dare - or just cross them off your list. Following article appeared in KBBreview "Sales stopped almost overnight" says Pedini boss Back 08 July 2009 Pedini UK md Darren Miller says the 'financial tsunami' of the recession caused the near disintegration of his Wigmore Street business with debts totaling nearly £3m when it went into liquidation. However, new money and a new company have brought the business back to life with Miller as managing director despite a long list of creditors that includes Pedini in Italy itself. The debts of Pedini UK Ltd are not carried over to Pedini UK Contracts Ltd. Pedini UK Ltd was put into liquidation on June 26 but the new company, Pedini UK Contracts, is now running the business from the same premises thanks to a cash injection from new high profile investor Jason Teichman - who will act as chief operating officer. Miller told kbbreview that despite growing impressively since the company had started three years ago, sales dropped by 70% at the end of 2008 as the credit crunch hit the company hard. "Our clients lost confidence when it came to spending money," Miller said. "They wanted to sit on their hands and watch the market reaction before pressing ahead with decisions. "Orders that were pending, deposits that were expected and sales anticipated simply stopped overnight. The market appeared to be in freefall and I think our customers were waiting to see if it would bottom out." Pedini UK and Pedini UK Contracts sell and distribute products through an exclusivity agreement with the Italian manufacturer Pedini Spa, which the creditors list reveals was owed £328,000 at the time of liquidation. However Miller said that he has Pedini Spa's "100% support" for the new set up. "Pedini UK was their best retailer in the world and the second best distributor," he said. "So they're thrilled that we've found a solution and they welcome the involvement of the Teichman family." The list of creditors as of June 26 also includes significant amounts for key suppliers such as Gaggenau parent company BSH, Miele, and Westye. But Miller stresses that his customers have been unaffected. "It's very important to emphasise that when the old company closed no single customer lost their deposits and we never failed to deliver any kitchens." Further to my post in March, we are now towards the end of May - Pedini have now stopped replying to any calls or e-mails - sadly it looks like we will have to sue - lets hope they don't go bust first! My dream kitchen is still sporting curtains from Ikea instead of the high gloss doors we have paid for! Buyer beware, your dream could turn into a nightmare.

We chose and paid for our 'dream' kitchen from Pedini. They were adamant that nothing would be delivered or fitted until the full amount (including fitting at £5,000) had been paid. Unfortunately, we have been conned. Our 'kitchen' which is still minus many components and appliances was supposed to be finished in November, it is now the middle of March. Despite a lot of nice talk, Pedini sadly take no action - please don't be seduced by their fancy showroom - staff change faster than the weather and the state of the art graphics showing your new kitchen never become more than that. Lets hope they at least have the good manners to give us our money back - watch this space
