About Us

Sandra Shevey has offered the walks in tandem with Westminster City Archives and the Museum of London. Her love of history combined with a love of people make these walks something special; as Sandra takes you around on a `Mary Poppins-style` tour of the remnants of the markets in times past. She also, to make the walks come to live and revive history as you step, draws upon old photos, prints and diagrams; plus memories of the writers, artists and merchants who lived and worked in the old markets.

Sandra Shevey has been active travel writer since 1968 and has profiled UK tourism for the English Tourist Board and the BTA Overseas Press Service from 1984-1987. She began her market walks in 1990, after having completed biographies about Marilyn Monroe (`The Marilyn Scandal`) and John Lennon (`The Other Side of Lennon`)

Profiled in `Time Out`/`What`s On`/numerous online publications. Sandra Shevey herself has penned any number of articles about the survival plight of London markets and continues to campaign for their survival.
